The Boston College Eagles were completely outplayed and outmatched on Saturday in a 37-17 loss to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in Atlanta.

Among other shortcomings, BC struggled in establishing a rushing offense, earning just 2.0 yards per carry on the afternoon. They also had significant difficulty in stopping Georgia Tech on third downs. At one point, the Yellow Jackets converted seven straight third-down situations, three of which were for touchdowns.

If the Eagles fans at BC Interruption, SB Nation's Boston College community, had their say, this would be the final season for head coach Frank Spaziani. They feel that yesterday's loss is simply more evidence of the need for a regime change at BC.

That said, there is no defense left for coach Frank Spaziani. ... Let the rebuilding process begin now. Don't wait. The longer this drags on, the more fans this program will lose.

With just one win on the year thus far -- a 34-3 drubbing of FCS foe Maine during the second week of the season -- it's difficult to argue against BC Interruption's diagnosis of the Eagles program at this point.

Next week, BC will host the Maryland Terrapins at 1:00 p.m. ET.

Has there ever been a worse time to be a college football fan in New England? The misery continued for Boston College, UMass and UConn.

Times are tough for college football fans in New England. Seemingly nothing has gone right this season for the area's three FBS teams, and the one team that was doing well finally lost this weekend. Think we could get a do over? Please?

Boston College continued to be sub par with a 37-17 loss to Georgia Tech. After holding the Yellow Jackets to seven first-quarter points, the Eagles gave up 21 points in the second quarter, effectively putting the game out of reach. BC's offense would show some signs of life, outscoring Georgia Tech, 14-9, in the second half. Once again, though, it was too late. Chase Rettig finished with 264 yards, two scores and a yard. Andre Williams rushed for 51 yards, but losses dropped the team's rushing total to 32 yards on 16 carries. Alex Amidon continued to have his way, catching seven balls for 118 yards and one touchdown. Regardless, the defense continued to be ineffective, and as long as that trend continues, the Eagles will have a lot of difficulty winning another game. BC dropped to 1-6 overall (0-4 ACC). The bowl dream is almost dead.

UMass is still winless after being blanked by Bowling Green, 24-0. Mike Wegzyn (9-for-25, 23 passing yards) was picked off twice and A.J. Doyle tossed two more interceptions. UMass' total team passing yardage? 33 on 13-of-34 passing. Yikes. The running game was better, but that's not saying much when your leading rusher, Michael Cox, had 37 yards on 10 carries and your team totaled 85 yards on the ground. Bowling Green did most of its damage in the third quarter, scoring 13 points. UMass had six first downs and couldn't take advantage of 130 Falcons' penalty yards. UMass fell to 0-7 (0-4 MAC).

UConn couldn't do anything in the ground game, and Syracuse walked all over the Huskies en route to a 40-10 victory. The Huskies turned the ball over twice and accrued 296 passing yards from Chandler Whitmer, but finished with negative six rushing yards. Lyle McCombs, UConn's star running back, had 16 yards on 12 carries. After alternating wins and losses in the first few weeks of the season, the Huskies have dropped three straight. That skid could not have come at a worse time, as it places UConn at 3-5 overall and 0-3 in the Big East.

Harvard lost its first game of the season against Princeton, 39-34. The Crimson started strong, building a 21-0 lead heading into halftime, only to allow a 39-point second half highlighted by four unanswered Tigers touchdowns to close out the fourth quarter. Trailing 34-32 with less than a minute to play, Princeton put together a game-winning scoring drive that ended with a Quinn Epperly 36-yard touchdown pass with 13 ticks remaining. Despite losing, Colton Chapple threw for 448 yards and five touchdowns and the Crimson had three 100-yard receivers, with Kyle Juszcyk catching 15 passes for 192 yards and three touchdowns. Harvard fell to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in the Ivy League.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets raced out to a 25-point halftime lead over the Boston College Eagles and cruised to a 37-17 victory Saturday in Atlanta.

Georgia Tech (3-4, 2-3 ACC) made hay on the ground, rushing for 391 yards. Four Yellow Jackets players rushed for more than 55 yards, while a fifth finished with 41 yards. The Yellow Jackets ended the day with 563 total yards of offense.

Georgia Tech thoroughly dominated the first half, racking up over 400 yards of offense and holding Boston College (1-6, 0-4 ACC) to 123 yards. Yellow Jackets quarterbacks Tevin Washington and Vad Lee each accounted for two scores in the half.

Boston College tried to make a game of it in the second half, as Eagles quarterback Chase Rettig found his groove passing. After going down 31-3, Rettig threw two straight touchdown passes to make the score 31-17 with just over 13 minutes left in the contest. For the game, Rettig completed 19 of 31 passes for 264 yards and two scores.

The Boston College Eagles' defense was shredded over and over again in the first half, as the Eagles trail the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 28-3 at halftime.

Georgia Tech racked up 241 yards rushing and 407 yards overall in the half. Four Yellow Jackets players have at least 37 yards on the ground, with Zach Laskey's 71 yards leading the way. Quarterback Tevin Washington has two rushing touchdowns.

Georgia Tech got on the board first with a 13-play, 90-yard touchdown drive that spanned 5:36. Washington capped the long drive with a 12-yard run. The Yellow Jackets pushed the lead out to 14-0 early in the second quarter after Washington's second score.

Boston College finally was able to get something going on offense, with a 61-yard drive that resulted in a 25-yard field goal by Nate Freese to cut the score to 14-3.

Georgia Tech added on two more touchdowns in the second quarter to bring the score to 28-3. Backup quarterback Vad Lee accounted for both touchdowns, with one coming on the ground and the other coming through the air.

Boston College heads to Georgia Tech still looking for its first FBS win of the season.

The Boston College Eagles are still looking for their first win against an FBS school this season and after a 51-7 drubbing at Florida State. They'll stay on the road in the ACC for a Week 8 game against Georgia Tech.

The Eagles have one of the worst defenses in the country, and they've struggled stopping the run this year. Army racked up more than 500 yards on the ground utilizing a triple-option attack, one comparable to the offense that Frank Spaziani's defense will see against the Yellow Jackets.

Paul Johnson's option-heavy offense has given BC fits at times and, with the defense struggling already, it could be another high-scoring game that will force Chase Rettig and the offense to try to keep up.

The Jackets are No. 3 in the nation with an average of 331 yards per game on the ground, but they enter the week on an ugly three-game losing streak. Despite their inconsistent play recently, Georgia Tech is still a double-digit favorite.

Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. ET at Bobby Dodd Stadium, and the game will be available on ESPN3 as well as GamePlan

Boston College (1-5, 0-3 ACC) hopes to change its fortune when it faces Georgia Tech (2-4, 1-3 ACC) on Saturday afternoon in Atlanta, GA.

Nothing has been working for the Boston College Eagles lately, but they'll try to change their fortunes when they face the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Saturday afternoon at Bobby Dodd Stadium in Atlanta, GA.

Boston College and Georgia Tech have not played in Atlanta since 2008, when Matt Ryan was the Eagles quarterback and former New England Patriots linebacker Gary Guyton was on the field for the Yellow Jackets. Ryan played one of his best games as a collegiate athlete, completing 30-of-44 passes for 345 yards to lead the Eagles to a 24-10 victory. Georgia Tech leads the all-time series, 5-2.

The Eagles are off to a disheartening 1-5 start, with their lone victory coming over the Maine Black Bears, an FCS team. BC's most recent losses were its worst, with the Eagles falling to Army, 34-31, after allowing over 500 rushing yards and BC losing to the Florida State Seminoles, 51-7, last weekend. Chase Rettig has passed for 1,648 yards and 11 touchdowns, Alex Amidon has 41 catches for 688 yards and four scores and Andre Williams has rushed for 473 yards and four touchdowns for the Eagles.

Georgia Tech is 2-4 and has lost its last three games to Miami, Middle Tennessee and Clemson. In each of their last three games, the Yellow Jackets have allowed more than 40 points. Last weekend, Georgia Tech last to Clemson, 47-31. Tevin Washington has 804 passing yards and four touchdowns and 408 rushing yards and 13 rushing scores to pace Georgia Tech.

Georgia Tech is a 14-point favorite over Boston College. Kickoff is at 3 p.m. ET.
