New England native Keegan Bradley finished fourth at the PGA Championship, but he was no match for Rory McIlroy, who won the tournament by a record margin.

Nobody was going to come close to Rory McIlroy in the PGA Championship, as the 23-year-old from Northern Ireland won the event on the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island by a record margin of eight strokes.

McIlroy didn't bogey any of his last 23 holes, finishing the tournament at 13-under, winning his second career major by the same margin that he won his first, the 2011 U.S. Open. A run by Ian Poulter had cut his lead to two strokes at one point on the final day, but once McIlroy started scoring, there was no stopping him, as he reclaimed the World No. 1 spot by shooting 11-under for his final 36 holes. David Lynn finished a distant second at 5-under.

Keegan Bradley, who was born in Vermont and also lived in New Hampshire and Hopkinton, Mass., never contended for the lead, but fought his way back from shooting a 77 in the second round to finish in a tie for third place. Bradley was at even par entering the final round of the competition, but shot a four-under on the final 18 holes to put him in a four-way tie for third with Poulter, Justin Rose, and Carl Pettersen nine strokes off the lead. His finish will earn him $384,500. Bradley was the American golfer with the highest finish. Bradley's outing gave him a fourth-place finish in the Ryder Cup standings, meaning he will represent Team USA in that event.

Rory McIlroy cruised to victory on Sunday in the 2012 PGA Championship at the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort in South Carolina. McIlroy finished 6-under-par on Sunday and 13-under for the tournament.

David Lynn was a distant second at 5-under for the tournament. Tiger Woods finished 2-under, tied for 11th place. Defending PGA Championship winner and Vermont native Keegan Bradley finished 4-under for the tournament and was among four players tied for third with that score.

The win was McIlroy's second in a major championship. He also won the 2011 U.S. Open. McIlroy's best finish in the PGA Championship before this year was third in 2009 and 2010. Like the 2011 U.S. Open win, McIlroy grew stronger as the tournament wore on and his dominating performance on the weekend gave him an undramatic victory.

Saturday's rain delay prevented the completion of the third round of the 2012 PGA Championships for many of tournament's competitors, including Rory McIlroy, Vijay Singh, and Tiger Woods. As a result, players who have not yet completed their round of golf will take to the course at 7:45 a.m. Eastern Time. Afterwards, the fourth and final round of play will begin at 11:44 a.m. and tee times will continue through 1:45, according to an official statement from the PGA of America Rules Committee. The golfers will be placed into groups of three for round four.

McIlroy will look to finish his third round of golf as successfully as he started it. He was four-under on Saturday to lower his overall score to six-under, good enough to place him first on the leaderboard. Singh is tied with McIlroy overall and is two-under through seven holes in the third round. Some of the competitors, including Bo Van Pelt (three-under) and Steve Stricker (two-under) were able to finish all 18 holes on Saturday before the rain delay.

TV coverage begins on TNT at 8:00 a.m. Eastern Time and continues on CBS Sports at 2:00 p.m.

Keegan Bradley has had an up and down front nine in the third round of the 2012 PGA Championship at The Ocean Course on Kiawah Island, SC, but the defending champion made the turn at even par on the day and 1-over par for the tournament.

The Woodstock, VT native had a roller coaster start to the day, going birdie-bogey-birdie on the first three holes to move 1-under par for the day and even par on the tournament. After four straight pars Bradley lost a stroke and moved back to over par following a bogey on the 198-yard par-3 eighth hole.

With leaders Tiger Woods, Carl Pettersson and Vigay Singh set to start, Bradley will need to make a run on the back nine if he wants to be in contention to win back-to-back Wanamaker trophies.

Round 3 of the 2012 PGA Championship begins Saturday morning, with a three way tie at the top of the leaderboard. Tiger Woods, Vijay Singh and Carl Pettersson all sit at 4-under par. Woods moved from a 69 on Thursday to a 71 on Friday, so he'll need to turn his momentum in the other direction to stay at the top. Pettersson posted a 66 on Thursday and a 74 on Friday, so he has even more work to do. Vermont native Keegan Bradley, representing New England in the field, struggled on Friday and sits tied for 15th at 1-over par.
