See you later, Tyler Seguin. The third-year Boston Bruins forward will be playing hockey for EHC Biel in Switzerland this season during the 2012 NHL Lockout. Seguin, 20, scored 29 goals and had 38 assists in 81 games last season.

Tyler Seguin, like so many of his peers, will be heading overseas to play hockey for EHC Biel in Switzerland during the NHL Lockout, according to a press release from the team. Seguin's deal will run through December 31, 2012 and he will report to the team this Saturday.

Seguin, 20, was drafted by the Boston Bruins with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Seguin saw limited action during his first season with the team, finishing with 11 goals and 11 assists in 74 games in 2011. Last season, Seguin took a big step forward, scoring 29 goals and registering 38 assists in 81 games.

The NHL Lockout officially began at 12:01 a.m. last Sunday after the collective bargaining agreement between the league and its players expired. The current labor strife is projected by many to take the entire 2012-13 season as a casualty.

The Boston Bruins have agreed to terms on a three-year contract extension with Milan Lucic, according to a WEEI report. Lucic will earn $18 million dollars over the three years, making Lucic the highest paid forward on the Bruins.

The Bruins and Lucic had until 12 a.m. Sunday to reach an agreement. Once the NHL's second lockout in the last seven years begins, teams will be unable to sign players to contracts.

Lucic was set to hit restricted free agency following the 2012-13 season, but that's no longer the case. Lucic is now under contract with the Bruins for the next four seasons.

Lucic enjoyed a successful 2011-12 campaign, scoring 26 goals and assisting on 35. Lucic had his breakout year in 2010-11, helping lead the Bruins capture the Stanley Cup. In 2010-11, Lucic scored 30 goals and notched 32 assists.

The NHL owners and players are currently locked in a battle over a new collective bargaining agreement, and commissioner Gary Bettman says the league will start locking players out on Saturday if a new deal is not reached.

Bettman already had the authority to lock out players beginning Saturday at 11:59 p.m. ET, but the owners unanimously stood behind Bettman when he asked them for support on the lockout measure, according to excerpts of Bettman's press conference on Thursday compiled by Michael Russ of the StarTribune.

The chance of a full-length season for the Boston Bruins and the rest of the NHL is getting slimmer by the day. With the two sides still far apart on the issue of how much hockey-related revenue should be shared with the players, the start of a lockout on Saturday seems inevitable.

The Boston Bruins have put four players on waivers -- center Trent Whitfield, forward Jamie Tardif, defenseman Garnet Exelby and center Christian Hanson - TSN's Bob McKenzie is reporting. The news comes just a day after the organization announced it was signing forward Tyler Seguin to a six-year extension worth about $34.5 million.

Whitfield appeared in only one game for the Bruins last season after two years with minor league Providence. Tardiff, also a teammate in Providence has never appeared in a NHL game but signed a two year deal with the Bruins following the 2009-'10 season. Exelby was a longtime starter for the Atlanta Thrashers who most recently played with Detroit minor league affiliate Grand Rapids. Hanson - son of "Slap Shot" start Dave Hanson - bounced around with Toronto and their minor league teams before signing a one-year deal with Boston in July.

Tyler Seguin and the Boston Bruins have reached an agreement on a six-year contract extension worth $34.5 million, which will pay the third-year forward an average annual salary of $5.75 million and keep him in Boston through 2018-2019.

Tyler Seguin and the Boston Bruins have agreed on a six year contract extension worth $34.5 million, the team announced on Monday. Seguin's extension will keep him in Boston through the 2018-2019 season and will pay him an average annual salary of $5.75 million.

Seguin was drafted by the Bruins No. 2 overall in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft and played in 74 games during his rookie season. Seguin finished the regular season campaign with 11 goals and 11 assists and helped spark the Bruins during their historic run to win the Stanley Cup Championship that year. The following season, Seguin took a major step forward and contributed 29 goals and 38 assists while playing in all 81 games.

Seguin's contract extension makes him the Bruins' highest paid forward and is now the team's second highest paid player behind the captain, Zdeno Chara.

The Bruins and Brad Marchand have agreed to terms for a contract extension that will keep the center in Boston through the 2016-2017 season. The Halifax native will receive $4.5 million per year, which is $2 million better than his previous contract. The new deal will begin during the 2012-13 NHL season.

Marchand scored a career-high 28 goals last season, just one less than team-leader Tyler Seguin. Playing in 76 games for the Bruins, his plus-31 rating was good for fifth in the league. Marchand was particularly instrumental in Boston's 2011 Stanley Cup run, when the then-rookie contributed 11 goals and eight assists in 25 postseason games on the road to the championship.

Marchand was selected in the third round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft by the Bruins.
