Shooting guard Matt Humphrey will transfer to West Virginia after graduating from Boston College, according to a report from ChicagoHoops.com.

Humphrey was the second-leading scorer on the Boston College Eagles last season with 10.3 points per game, but shot an inefficient 35 percent from the field and 31.3 percent on three-pointers.

As a recent graduate, Humphrey will be eligible immediately at West Virginia. As BC Interruption's Conrad Kaczmarek notes, the change of scenery might be best for all parties.

It's pretty clear that this BC basketball team is in it's infant stages of a rebuilding process and for all the talent that Humphrey possesses, he simply wasn't right for this team. A bunch of freshman and sophomores don't need a veteran guard simply chucking shots and making questionable basketball decisions. Naturally, we wish Matt the best with the rest of his basketball career but I don't want people to get the wrong idea about this transfer. This isn't players leaving the program because of Coach Donahue's ability or the direction of the organization. This was simply a player that didn't fit with the needs of our team and would be better suited in a different environment.

Dragicevich gave Notre Dame "tremendous depth," according to UND.com.

Gives the Irish tremendous depth at the guard position ... has great size for a guard and an excellent feel for the game ... handles the ball extremely well and could be valuable at the point guard position on occasion ... strong and consistent perimeter shooter who fits well into the Notre Dame system in this regard ... has the skills and ability to develop into a very good outside shooter at the collegiate level ... played in 14 games in a reserve role as a freshman ... posted 20 points and 11 rebounds.

It just wasn't working out for Gabe Moton, the sophomore guard who asked for and received his release from the Boston College men's basketball team. Moton spoke about his decision to leave in an exclusive interview with SB Nation Boston.

It just wasn't working out. The minutes weren't there, and evidently, there wasn't a shared vision for the future. That's why Gabe Moton decided to take his talents elsewhere, asking for (and receiving) his release from the Boston College men's basketball team.

"Basically, I just felt like I have more to give. I have more to give to a team," Moton said. "I just want to find a team, find a school, you know, [that I] can contribute more [to]. I feel like I've got more to give than I was given the opportunity to give."

Moton, a sophomore guard, played two seasons with the Eagles. Last year, Moton averaged career highs in points (2.9) and assists (1.1), but only played 459 minutes (an average of 15.8 per game) and played significantly less minutes as the season wound down. In his freshman season, Moton averaged 2.5 points and 1.0 assists in an average of 14.8 minutes in 34 games.

Moton declined to comment when asked if he had any disagreements with coach Steve Donahue or the athletics staff, but did have good things to say about Donahue and his teammates.

"He's a good coach, I wish him the best of luck," said Moton. "I had fun playing under him."

"Me personally, I enjoyed being around all my teammates, I love all my teammates. We really were like a family, but I'm just doing what's best for myself."

Moton isn't sure where his next destination will be, but wherever he goes, he'll bring his 'A' game.

"I'd be a good teammate, on and off the court, a good person," Moton said. "Pretty much everything. I'd be a good person, a good player all around."

Now that Moton's career at BC is over, he has had time to reflect. As for the highs and lows?

"My career," he said.

Gabe Moton has reportedly been granted his release from the Boston College Eagles' men's basketball team, according to Jeff Goodman of CBS Sports. Moton, a sophomore point guard, recently completed his second season at BC.

Gabe Moton has reportedly been granted his release from the Boston College Eagles men's basketball team, according to a report from Jeff Goodman of CBS Sports. Moton, a Florida native, recently finished his second season with the Eagles.

Moton, a 6-foot-1 sophomore point guard, averaged 2.9 points and 1.1 assists last season in 459 total minutes. Moton only scored 83 points on the season and shot 40.8 percent from the floor (31-for-76) while totaling 31 assists, 47 rebounds and 12 steals. His numbers in his freshman season weren't any better, as he averaged 2.5 points and 1.1 assists in 504 minutes.

The departure of Moton marks the second such occurrence for the Boston College basketball program this offseason, as junior Matt Humphrey announced that he would not be returning to the program next season either. Humphrey, who has one more year of eligibility left, will graduate from BC and will enroll elsewhere, meaning he doesn't have to wait to play.

The Commonwealth Classic is no more. Boston College basketball will drop the University of Massachusetts from its 2012-13 schedule due to ACC expansion. The Eagles and Minutemen had met annually for the past 17 seasons.

The Commonwealth Classic is no more. Boston College will drop the UMass Minutemen, who they played annually for the past 17 years, from their 2012-2013 schedule, according to a report from the Daily Hampshire Gazette. The decision is a result of the Atlantic Coast Conference expansion from 16 to 18 conference games, giving BC less non-conference space.

"We are expanding to an 18-game ACC schedule next season and playing UMass just didn't work this year," (Eagles head coach Steve Donahue) said in a statement through the BC media relations department. "We will continue to play them some time in the future." (via Daily Hampshire Gazette)

The two schools first met in 1905, but would not play again until 1951. After playing regularly from the 1950s through the 1970s, the Eagles and Minutemen would not play each other from 1979 through 1990. In 1995, the Commonwealth Cup was born, and the teams have played yearly since. Boston College led the series against UMass in the Cup, 10-7.

The Eagles will be without their lone senior and second leading scorer as Matt Humphrey has decided to transfer for the second time in three seasons.

Junior guard Matt Humphrey is leaving Boston College after one season with the program, according to a tweet from CBSSports college basketball writer Jeff Goodman. Humphrey who played his first two seasons at Oregon, before transferring to Boston College two years ago, will be eligible to play immediately because he is graduating this season.

Jeff Goodman: Boston College junior guard Matt Humphrey is transferring, source told CBSSports. Humphrey will graduate and be able to play ASAP.

Humphrey finished second on the Eagles in scoring this season at 10.3 points per game, while adding 3.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. He was expected to come and be an impact player on offense for the Eagles but struggled mightily to begin the season and was never able to fully overcome his shooting woes. For the season, Humphrey shot just 35 percent, with a 31.3 percent average from behind the arc and a 61.3 percent clip from the line.

The loss will certainly impact the Eagles who finished just 9-22 and 4-12 in ACC play after losing the majority of their roster to graduation or the NBA last May. Humphrey would have been a starter on the 2012-13 edition of the Eagles and more importantly would have provided some leadership as the lone senior on a very young Boston College team.
