Patrice Bergeron and Milan Lucic each scored goals for the Boston Bruins, but a third-period rally by the Carolina Hurricanes in which the B's surrendered three goals led to a 4-2 victory for the Canes on Saturday night in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Bergeron's goal was the first of the game, and it came on an assist from Johnny Boychuk at 6:13 of the second period. Patrick Dwyer tied the game with his fifth goal of the season, assisted by Brandon Sutter, at 10:30 of the same period.

Lucic potted his 16th goal of the season 1:21 into the third period, assisted by David Krejci. However, the Hurricanes answered with three unanswered scores -- Justin Faulk (4) at 13:58, Jay Harrison (7) at 18:30 and Eric Staal (11) at 18:58 on an empty net -- to claim the victory.

Tim Thomas made 17 saves on 20 shots for the B's and Cam Ward had 33 saves.

Bruins have a tough schedule ahead of them, playing four road games in five days before heading back to TD Garden. Their first stop on the road is Carolina, a team that afforded them two losses so far this season.

Thursday night's game against the Montreal Canadiens was kind of a strange one for the Bruins. They didn't really excel in the game, though they ended up with a 2-1 win, and the attention from both sides of the media was mostly on the struggling Habs.

Though the Bruins did say it wasn't one of their most consistent games, and at times it lacked some of the emotional fire that usually comes with this heated rivalry, it still put two points in the winning column and gave the B's a nudge in the right direction heading into a five-games-in-eight-days stint.

The first stop will be in Carolina on Saturday where the B's will take on the Hurricanes-- a team that has beaten them twice already this season. Granted, both times were back in October, when a slight breeze could have blown them over. In the first game, Carolina took them out 3-2, and then just six days later, they did it again 4-1 in Boston.

But the Bruins have changed a bit since then and right now they are hoping for their fifth win in six games and taking back a little bit of their pride with them.

They shouldn't have too much of a problem with some keys members out of the lineup for the Hurricanes. Both Joni Pitkanen and Jeff Skinner are on the Injured Reserve list and won't be playing tonight.

Pitkanen had four points spread across the two games against Boston this season, including the game winning goal in the second game. Skinner didn't have a point in those two games.

The game will be broadcast live on NESN at 7 p.m. and will be aired on 100.7 WZLX instead of 98.5 The Sports Hub due to the Patriots/Broncos game.
