Former Boston College linebacker Luke Kuechly might be a little lonely during the school's NFL Pro Day.

The record-setting middle linebacker is Boston College's only player who will work out for NFL scouts and front office decision-makers at the school's Pro Day, the NFL announced on Monday. Though not as widely populated by NFL evaluators as the NFL combine, Pro Days are nonetheless considered an important aspect of the Draft process, as scouts travel the country for another chance to measure top prospects.

Boston College will hold its Pro Day on March 21. Kuechly is expected to be selected in the first round regardless of how he performs in the workout, but he could potentially improve his draft stock, especially if he showcases elite athleticism NFL scouts aren't sure he possesses.

As of now, SB Nation's latest 2012 Mock Draft projects Kuechly to be selected No. 23 by the Detroit Lions. He could go considerably closer to the beginning of the first round depending on how the draft shakes out.

When discussing linebackers who will taken high in the 2012 NFL draft, both Luke Kuechly and Vontaze Burfict will inevitably find their way into the discussion.

In a piece by NFLdraftseason.com, both are compared to try and determine who's the better prospect.

While the article finally decides on Burfict being the choice, I tend to respectfully disagree. It's a very well written piece with many good points, but I'll take the smarter and more productive player any day of the week.

Kuechly made an astonishing 191 tackles last year compared to Burfict's 68. That's an incredible difference in production that just can't be ignored. On top of that, Burfict has had major issues with keeping his focus and not hurting his team with dumb penalties. His talent is unquestioned, but neither is his pension for coming unglued.

As pointed out, the one thing that hurts Kuechly is he appears to be strictly a 4-3 inside type. However, if a team who runs that scheme is in need of an upgrade there, they would be wise to take a long look at the Boston College product.

Luke Kuechly is looking more and more like a first round pick out of Boston College.

While Kuechly hasn't been getting the acclaim as some other high round hopefuls, the young man has impressed many around the league. Kuechly brings a unique skill set with him that should translate nicely to the NFL game.

Some see him as a good fit with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he could slide into a linebacker core of two pro bowlers in Tamba Hali and Derrick Johnson.

Another good fit could be in the AFC West with the San Diego Chargers, who desperately need a linebacker and some youth. Philip Rivers has the offense looking great for Norv Turner but the defense just seems to be missing something. Kuechly would fit nicely alongside Shaun Phillips.

With the NFL combine just a month away, it will be fascinating to see how Kuechly moves on NFL draft boards.
