It's been a while since the headline haven't highlighted the names of Tyler Seguin and Milan Lucic, but the Bruins will take Tuesday's 4-3 win against the Devils anyway.

For the first time in November, the Bruins didn't have the money in the bag towards the end of the game. Fans grew tense and wary and Cam Neely practically leaped for joy after watching Benoit Pouliot score the game winning goal with just over three minutes to play in the third period.

But the Devils have been a team that knows comeback, and have done it so many times already this season, and even twice in tonight's game.

After David Clarkson scored the first goal of the night, netting a one-timer on a 5-on-3 power play that broke a 0-22 skid for the Devils, the Bruins matched it four minutes later.

Gregory Campbell started the play down low, fighting off the New Jersey defense just to the right of Johan Hedberg. He tossed a shot on net, and the defense ended up mishandling the puck. The turnover resulted in a loose puck in front of the net, which a crashing Chris Kelly found coming through the slot and put through the five hole of Hedberg to tie the game at one a piece.

Then the Bruins found the lead, and the game opened up in the third period. After Brad Marchand had been benched in the last half of the second period after taking an ill-advised roughing penalty in the second, he came out and the third and immediately showed that he was in it to help his team. Just six seconds into the final frame he took the puck off the rebound, slipped through the defense, and found himself on a breakaway. And six seconds later, the puck went from his stick to the back of the net.

"That's the way to respond, right?" Bruins forward Shawn Thornton said. "I guess [Marchand] just said, 'bench me anytime and I’ll respond,' huh? No, I mean I know he was pretty upset with himself after that penalty. A penalty in the offensive zone is a tough one to take and I think he knows that. He did his time and then he came out and he did what he had to do to help the team out after that."

That goal by Marchand was Boston's fastest goal from the start of a period since Ray Bourque scored six seconds into the third period on Nov. 6, 1983 against Winnipeg.

Soon, it became pinball hockey and both teams were switching off goals back and forth. Twice the Bruins took the lead with the Devils responding soon there after. Goals from Marchand and Thornton were soon washed with two goals from Nick Palmieri, leaving the game tied 3-3 with over 13 minutes left to play.

And then the most unlikely player found the right time to score. Not Lucic. Not Seguin. But Benoit Pouliot took center stage, flipping a little bouncing puck past the blocker of Hedberg to give the Bruins the lead and eventual win. After his time up in the press box as a healthy scratch the game before, Pouliot said this goal definitely was a "feel good" point.

"Oh yeah it was a team thing," Pouliot said. "It feels good obviously scoring a goal. The game winner or not it just feels good. It helps mentality a lot. You feel good after this. Right now I feel great. We got a tough schedule coming up and it’s just a thing of keeping that going and keeping consistent"

Tim Thomas picked up his seventh win this season, stopping 27 shots, and still hasn't allowed more than three goals in a single game once this year.

Offensively, this is the first game in the month of November that the Bruins haven't scored five or more goals. This was what they called a character win, one that would test what they really were about when they weren't ahead by three goals at any given time.

"Yeah, those lopsided games aren’t realistic in this league," Bruins forward Chris Kelly said. "And we’ve been fortunate to score some goals and some quick goals back-to-back. But tonight it was back and forth and it was great to see the guys come in and find a way to win."

Thomas agreed, saying this game was kind of a wake up call to them, and one that should settle them back into reality.

"Yeah, we’ve had a couple of games where everything went our way, kind of easier wins," Thomas said. "This was a good wake up call without having to pay the price because we were able to get out of it with the win. You know, this is the way it’s going to be the majority of the time, it’s not always going to be the way it has been the last three or four games. And so it’s a good experience for our team I think."

After two periods of play, neither team has taken an advantage on the scoreboard. Devils still hold the advantage in shots, putting up 12 more for a 24-19 lead after two periods.

David Clarkson started the scoring with a one timer from the left circle at 10:46 of the period. The goal came during a 5-on-3 after the Bruins were called for both a hooking penalty and a delay of game. With 39 seconds with two extra men, the Devils took advantage and put the puck in the back of the net.The Bruins are 4-5-0 when allowing the first goal of the game.

They started the come back at 14:52, when Chris Kelly took over and found himself crashing the net with no one trying to cover him. He skated through the slot and netted a turnover from the Devils defense and tied the game.

Unlike the first period, Chara didn't register a shot on net in the second period, and Milan Lucic and Nathan Horton still haven't hit the net tonight.

Both the Bruins and the Devils came out unscathed 0-0 after the first period, however New Jersey took control of much of the play during that time.

Until close to the last shift of the period, the Bruins were being outshot 12-4. However, in the last two minutes, they managed to put together a decent opportunity with a couple of shots from Chara at the blueline.

The Bruins enter tonight's game 3-5-0 when they haven't scored in the first period. However, last game against the Sabres, the Bruins entered the second period behind 1-0, but ended up winning 6-2.

But tonight the trouble came early for the Black and Gold when recent NHL first star Tyler Seguin was sent to the penalty box just 18 seconds into the game for hooking. While they Devils weren't able to convert with the extra-man, it quickly allowed New Jersey to take control of the game. And they did.

They held the B's to just eight shots--three of which came from Chara. Milan Lucic and Nathan Horton have not yet recorded a shot, while Seguin and Krejci were each held to one.

Meanwhile, Tim Thomas was forced to stop 12 shots early on, including the early onslaught during the game where he faced four.

On Saturday, they beat the Washington Capitals 3-2 in an overtime shootout victory after coming back from a two-goal deficit. They have also won four of their last five games, and have done so without the help of their star Ilya Kovalchuk who has been out of the lineup for four games with a lower body injury.

Storyline: The Devils enter tonight with the second to least amount of goals scored this season. Sitting just above the New York Islanders (who have just 29 goals so far this year), the Devils have just 33 pucks in the net. To compare, the Bruins have 30 goals combined in the past five games.

The scoring woes could continue for the Devils, as historically, they have been limited to just six goals in their last five games in Boston. A large part of that had to do with Tim Thomas being in net. He won all three contests last year against the New Jersey team and allowed only two goals in those three games.

Players To Watch: The obvious player to watch for the Devils would be Patrick Elias who enters the game on a seven-game point streak with six goals and nine assists so far this season. If Kovalchuk returns for tonight’s game, keep an eye on him as well as he could provide a spark for the goal-deprived team.

As for the Bruins, Seguin is showing no signs of slowing down his campaign and neither is Lucic. Rich Peverley made a big impact in his first game back after an undisclosed injury that kept him out of a couple of games. Now that he is fully back, expect him to contribute.

Once again, assuming Thomas is back in net (which, given his success against them, he should be), it should provide just the right formula for the Bruins.

Prediction: Though the Devils sit right next to the Bruins in the standings, and have won four of their last five, I think Boston’s firepower is going to be too much for New Jersey. Add that to the already troubling lack of goals from the Devils and that makes for another lopsided game. Final Score: Bruins 5, Devils 2.

The Bruins have been on fire through the month of November and with the help of some of their streaking forwards, there is no reason to believe that should end tonight against the New Jersey Devils.

Things are heating up at TD Garden, and the Bruins are hoping to fuel the embers with the likes of the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday.

Boston, who now holds a 8-7-0 record this season after losing seven of its first ten games, has caught fire in the month of November and is leaving trails of fallen teams behind.

Tyler Seguin has a lot to do with that. The young forward has 11 points in six games and was recently honored with the NHL's first star of the week.

Tim Thomas has also been solid, especially against the Devils and will most likely get the start tonight. Thomas recorded his 27th career shutout with the 7-0 win over Toronto back on Nov. 5 and has won his last three starts. He also took victories in all three of his games against the Devils last year.

On a night that the Bruins have dedicated primarily for the Military, it will most definitely be an emotional game. Bruins players Johnny Boychuk, Andrew Ference, Nathan Horton, Milan Lucic, and Dennis Seidenberg each bought $5,000 worth of tickets to tonight's game and those tickets were donated to military members and their families.
