<p>Two early goals for the Montreal Canadiens proved to be too much for the Bruins to overcome, as they fell 4-2 to their arch rivals.</p>
<p>The Habs proved too much for the Bruins in the first two periods, dominating control of the puck and putting up 50% more shots on goal through the first two periods. With the beleaguered Tuukka Rask in goal, that proved good for two goals in the first period and another in the second to give Montreal the 3-0 lead.</p>
<p>While the Bruins would get a goal back in the second when Milan Lucic put in his second score of the season with an assist from Nathan Horton, they would not manage to score again until the last minute of the game, after which a quick empty-net response from Montreal would ice the game.</p>
<p>The Bruins suffered from a lack of discipline all night in the unfriendly confines of the Bell Centre, picking up 19 penalty minutes including five on a fighting major for Shawn Thornton.</p>
<p>With the loss, the Bruins fall to a 3-7-0 record on the season.</p>

<p>The Bruins managed to find a goal in the second period, but a Canadiens goal earlier in the period meant that it only served to bring the Bruins back to a 2-goal deficit.</p>
<p>The goal, coming from David Desharnais, once again came on a Montreal power play shortly after Tuukka Rask managed to stop a pair of Habs shots. Andrew Ference was the man who earned the penalty in the 11th minute for roughing, and while the Bruins were able to kill much of the two minutes off harmlessly, the last second shot from Desharnais proved too much.</p>
<p>The Bruins’ lone score so far came from Milan Lucic with four minutes to go in the period. Nathan Horton picked up the assist on the long shot that got past Carey Price for the goal.</p>

<p>If Bruins fans thought that a rivalry match against the Montreal Canadiens would serve to wake the team up from the malaise that has left them in last place, think again. Through one period of action in the Bell Centre, it's all Montreal, with the Canadiens leading 2-0 after two quick goals towards the end of the period.</p>
<p>The first goal, from 24 feet out, was tipped off the stick of Brian Gionta in the 16th minute of play. A holding penalty on Johnny Boychuk left the Bruins down a man, and the Canadiens capitalized as the clock ran down.</p>
<p>The floodgates now open, the Canadiens wasted little time adding a second score when Lars Eller hit a strong shot from 34 feet away to give the Habs a 2-0 lead.</p>
<p>Montreal's early lead is pretty indicative of how the game has gone so far. The Bruins haven't controlled the puck very often, and Montreal is winning the shots on goal battle by a good deal. If the Bruins can't put up some volume in the final two periods, then it's hard to see them overcoming this early deficit--especially with an entirely questionable Tuukka Rask in goal.</p>

This cancelled out the only goal for the Bruins, where Plekanec’s backhanded draw cost his team the lead in the first period. Habs goaltender Carey Price took the blame, but Plekanec was more than happy that his goal was able to give his team the win. </span><br><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-weight: normal; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;"></span><br><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-weight: normal; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">As for the Bruins, the only real highlight from the night besides some of the saves <span>Tim Thomas</span> made on the Montreal offense that peppered him with 18 shots in the second period alone, was the fight between Brad Marchand and <span>P.K. Subban</span>. While it didn’t seem to do much to add procutiono on the ice, it was a boost that the team and Bruins fans needed at the time. </span><br><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-weight: normal; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;"></span><br><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-weight: bold; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">Storyline: </span><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-weight: normal; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">Well, it was a story two nights ago as well, but it never really got started. <span>Benoit Pouliot</span> will be returning to the Bell Centre for the first time since he was ousted from the organization. It will be the second time out against his former team, but last Thrusday, he didn’t really make much of an impact. He only had one shot on net and was on the ice for just 8:59. I would bet that he will get amped up even more for this game and you’ll see a little more production out of him.</span><br><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-weight: normal; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;"></span><br><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-weight: normal; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">While I think the Marchand vs. Subban fight was a huge story line on Thursday, I really don’t think it will carry over to tonight. It was a heat of the moment situation, but I don’t think the animosity between these two is strong enough to provoke a round two (or four?) between these specific players. But you can expect <span>Brad Marchand</span> to get booed.</span><br><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-weight: normal; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;"></span><br><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-weight: normal; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">Speaking of booing, <span>Zdeno Chara</span> will also get the warm welcome from the Bell Centre crowd. It’s to be expected. It’s like every time Alex Rodriguez steps up to the plate at Fenway--it is a guaranteed wave of boos. So even though the story of the Chara/ Pacioretty is finally over (we hope), Chara will never be exempt from the warm welcome from Habs fans. </span><br><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-weight: normal; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;"></span><br><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-weight: normal; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">And finally, the Bruins are looking to climb out of last place, while the Canadiens are hoping for a three-game winning streak. Boston sits at a meager 3-6-0 and the Habs 3-5-2. </span><br><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-weight: normal; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;"></span><br><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-weight: bold; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">Players To Watch: </span><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-weight: normal; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">Max Pacioretty was somewhat invisible in Thursday’s game. I don’t think that’s normal, especially since he is the leading scorer for the team. Since he’s back at home and out of the glaring gaze of 17,565 Bruins fans, expect him to get a little more aggressive and be a key factor in tonight’s game. </span><br><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-weight: normal; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;"></span><br><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-weight: normal; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">Benoit Pouliot. I already said it, but I’ll say it again. It’s one thing facing your old team in the comfort of your own barn, but going back to your old stomping grounds adds a new level of excitement to the mix. I don’t think he will come out and have a four point game, but don’t be surprised if he provides a little more than one shot on net in 8:59. He said before he can’t let his excitement take over his game, but he needs to have it be a part. It wasn’t until Plekanec scored his goal on Thursday that you really saw Pouliot come out. He looked like a man on a mission and he will need to bring that intensity all game tonight in order for Claude Julien to get what he wants out of him.</span><br><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-weight: normal; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;"></span><br><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-weight: bold; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">Prediction: </span><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-weight: normal; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">There are fewer things more crazy than a Bruins/Habs game at the Bell Centre. Expect the B’s to come out even more physical than before, but don’t anticipate another Thomas/Price fighting brawl. As much as everyone would like to see that again. </span><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-weight: bold; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">Final Score: Canadiens 4, Bruins 2.</span><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-weight: normal; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;"></span></p>

<p>The Boston Bruins look to reverse their slow start and exact a little revenge against the host Montreal Canadiens Saturday night at 7 p.m.</p> <p>The Boston Bruins look to reverse their slow start and exact a little revenge against the host <a href="https://www.habseyesontheprize.com/" class="sbn-auto-link">Montreal Canadiens</a> Saturday night at 7 p.m. (CBC, RDS HD, NHLN-US, NESN HD).</p>
<p>Two days after a 2-1 loss to the Canadiens in Boston, the Bruins get another opportunity to defeat their rival. <span>Patrice Bergeron</span> scored Boston's lone goal in Thursday's loss, and <span>Tim Thomas's</span> 33 saves were not enough to keep the Bruins from falling to 3-6-0, all alone in the Eastern Conference basement.</p>
<p>Boston's struggles have continued long enough that general manager Pete Chiarelli is making extra phone calls. <a href="http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/bruins/post/_/id/7870/julien-responds-to-possible-trade-talks">Chiarelli told ESPN's Pierre LeBrun</a> that he always works the phones but has been "a little more diligent these days." </p>
<p>Whatever roster decisions Chiarelli does, or doesn't, make, Bruins coach Claude Julien said he will support them.</p>
<blockquote>
<p>"I'm always going to support my general manager," Julien said. "We talk a lot and whether it happens or whether it doesn't happen, those decisions are made as a group and certainly never second-guess because once a decision is made we're all on board." </p>
</blockquote>
<p>Bruins forward <span>Shawn Thornton</span> said the team can't listen to any trade chatter.</p>
<blockquote>
<p>"Those decision are out of our control," Thornton said. "We just focus on what we can do on the ice. I know it sounds cliché but it's true. You have to go out, work your hardest and not worry about those things."</p>
