Red Sox reportedly talking to Nick Swisher

The Red Sox remain interested in free agent Nick Swisher even after signing Mike Napoli.

The Boston Red Sox made their first big move of the offseason, but signing Mike Napoli did not take them out of the running for free agent Nick Swisher.

The Red Sox are reportedly still in discussions with Swisher and a deal remains a possibility. While the discussions continue, Swisher may not be inclined to sign quickly. According to a report from WEEI, Swisher may not sign until after free agent outfielder Josh Hamilton agrees to a deal. Hamilton is considered to be the prize of the free agent class and by waiting, Swisher could allow Hamilton to set the market price.

The teams who miss out on Hamilton could turn to Swisher as a backup plan. With more teams interested, Swisher's price tag could also increase. He hit .272 with 24 home runs and 93 RBI for the New York Yankees last season. In addition to Swisher, the Red Sox are also reportedly considering free agent Shane Victorino.
