In SB Nation's latest mock draft by Matthew Fairburn, the New England Patriots chose Rutgers cornerback Logan Ryan with the 29th overall selection.
The pick makes sense on a lot of levels, especially after rookie corner Alfonzo Dennard was found guilty last week of assaulting a police officer. Dennard now faces the possibility of significant jail time, leaving New England in a tough spot.

Luckily for the Patriots, this draft is deep with regards to the secondary. Ryan would be a very nice fit on a team that needs to become stronger in the back end of its defense. Currently, New England has absolutely no answer across the field from Aqib Talib, giving Ryan an open door to a starting job.
In 2012, Ryan had four interceptions for the Scarlet Knights and amassed 94 tackles, showing his ability to come up and play the run. At 6', 190 pounds, Ryan also has the size to get up on the line of scrimmage and play some bump-and-run press, giving the Patriots options with their defensive calls.
