2013 NFL Mock Draft: Patriots get secondary help in newest SB Nation mock

The Patriots need to add some depth in the secondary, and that's where they go with their first pick in SB Nation's newest mock draft.

USA TODAY Sports

The New England Patriots have added a lot of youth to their defense over the past year or two. That trend could continue in 2013, as SB Nation's newest mock draft has the Pats selecting Florida State defensive back Xavier Rhodes.

New England's secondary was improved when they traded for Aqib Talib, but he's a free agent and there's no guarantee he comes back. The Patriots have just three corners under contract for next season and will likely draft a corner at some point. Rhodes is a high value choice and he may get some looks at safety in the NFL.

Like the post says, Rhodes could end up at either cornerback or safety. The team could also address needs at offensive line and wide receiver, but a lot will depend on who is left on the board by the time Bill Belichick and company are up at the 29th-overall pick.

For more information on Rhodes, check out his SB Nation scouting report. He finished the 2012 season with 39 tackles, three interceptions and seven passes broken up for the Seminoles.
