New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman left Thursday's 49-19 win over the New York Jets in the third quarter with an apparent head injury. He did not return to the game.
Edelman took a helmet-to-helmet hit from Jets safety LaRon Landry on an end-around, which resulted in a 3-yard gain and a fumble. Edelman was clearly woozy from the hit and was escorted to the locker room after being helped off the field, likely to undergo tests.
The fourth-year pro out of Kent State returned a fumble for a touchdown on a kickoff and hauled in a 56-yard touchdown pass from Tom Brady in the second quarter, helping the Patriots to jump out to a 35-3 halftime lead. In the Patriots' blowout win over the Indianapolis Colts last week, Edelman caught a touchdown pass and returned a punt for a touchdown for the third time in his career.
Other than Edelman's possible concussion, the Patriots appear to have come out of the Thanksgiving night victory relatively healthy.
