Revolution Vs. Rapids Update: Lineups Released, New England Rests Several

With the New England Revolution locked in game two of a stretch of three matches in seven days, the starting lineup for Wednesday night's clash with the Colorado Rapids features several changes as usual starters and contributors are rested. Breaking the three-match losing streak that the Revs are caught up in should be a high priority for Jay Heaps, but he must also consider the health and freshness of his key contributors ahead of a weekend trip to Utah to face Real Salt Lake.

The defense remains unchanged from last weekend's one-nil loss to New York, but changes have been made to the midfield in an effort to rest some players and churn up some offense. Kelyn Rowe is not even in the 18 today, with Fernando Cardenas receiving his first MLS start on the left wing opposite Benny Feilhaber. Captain Shalrie Joseph and Clyde Simms anchor the middle, per usual.

Up top, Saer Sene and Jose Moreno will reprise their budding partnership. Sene in particular will be hoping to pick up a goal after wasting several gilt-edged chances in the last few matches.

Usual starter Lee Nguyen features on the bench tonight in an effort to get some rest, while players like Bjorn Runstrom, Diego Fagundez, and John Lozano will likely be the first off the bench in the event of fatigue by any of the starters.

On the other side, only the absence of Conor Casey from the gameday squad comes as any surprise.
