Revolution Vs. DC United: Maicon Santos Draws Scores Level At 1-1

Jose Moreno put the New England Revolution ahead just six minutes into the match, but D.C. United wasted very little time leveling the score at 1-1. Maicon Santos notched his third goal of the season off fortuitous deflection to negate the Revolution's advantage and quiet the Gillette Stadium crowd.

Nick Deleon's 19th minute corner drifted out to Dwayne De Rosario in the right corner of the box. Ever the ambitious scorer, DeRo attempted a bicycle kick that deflected. However, the deflection reached the head of Maicon Santos in the six-yard box, and the Brazilian made no mistake, burying his attempt in the back of the net. Ryan Guy appeared to be caught ball-watching and didn't contest Santos' header on the play.

D.C. had enjoyed considerable possession to that point and has not been shy about attacking the Revolution goal. New England appears to miss the steadying presence of Shalrie Joseph in the middle of the park.
