The MLS announced Tuesday that New England Revolution midfielder Shalrie Joseph has been suspended for one game and fined an undisclosed amount after "a reckless challenge that endangered the safety of his opponent" during a match with FC Dallas on Thursday, April 5.
Joseph will miss the Revolution's meeting this Saturday with D.C. United at Gillette Stadium.
The punishable offense occurred during the 62nd minute against FC Dallas when Joseph lost the ball and subsequently tackled FC Dallas midfielder Ricardo Villar, bringing Villar down to the field.
The MLS disciplinary committee suspended Jair Benitez, Brandon McDonald and Atiba Harris last week for incidents in Week 4 games and also fined Danny Cruz. Houston's Adam Moffat will also miss a game this weekend after being suspended for a reckless tackle in Week 3, and Colin Clark is serving a three-game ban for using a homophobic slur.
