The New England Revolution have had the majority of the positive play in their West Coast clash with the LA Galaxy, but will not be able to hold on for a shutout. Robbie Keane managed to pull a goal back for the hosts in the 78th minute with a clinical finish.
The move began with a sumptuous through-ball from Edson Buddle, a delivery good enough for NBC announcer Arlo White to remark that if it had come from David Beckham, pundits would be calling it "world class." Buddle's ball from midfield sliced through the Revolution defense and found Keane in full stride between A.J. Soares and Stephen McCarthy. Keane ran onto the ball and faced an onrushing Matt Reis. The Republic of Ireland's all-time leading goalscorer was unfazed, calmly shifting to his right after Reis committed and rounding the prone 'keeper before slotting the ball home with an almost nonchalant finish.
