The New England Patriots wrap up their 2012 preseason on Wednesday night with a Super Bowl XLVI rematch against the New York Giants. The starters rarely play, if at all, during the fourth and final preseason game but it's the last chance for the coaching staff to get a look at the reserves before Friday's 53-man roster deadline. This is the 22nd time the Pats and Giants will square off in the preseason, and comes on the heels of last year where both teams met during the preseason, regular season, and Super Bowl.
The Giants are banged up and looking to get healthy in advance of next week's league-opening game on Wednesday. The Pats are also expected to play things close to the vest and try to escape in good health. Ryan Mallett should get a majority of the reps under center as he tries to build on the significant action he's seen this preseason. Offensive line has certainly been in the crosshairs this week in Foxboro, but the Pats may have both Logan Mankins and Sebastian Vollmer in the lineup on Wednesday. Mankins got some light work on Friday against the Bucs. While neither will see significant action, any live-game reps would be a welcome sight as the Pats try to shore things up along the offensive front.
