If anything, New England Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker has improved with age, so it comes as no surprise that the 31-year-old wideout is considered among the league's best fantasy options at the position.
Welker, who caught 122 passes in 2011, ranked third in ProFootballWeekly's annual ranking of the best fantasy wide receivers for 2012. Welker's 122 receptions in 2011 was just one off his career high — 123 in 2009 — and led the NFL. Falcons wideout Roddy White was second with 100.
The Patriots landed three other receivers on the list, Brandon Lloyd (No. 22), Jabar Gaffney (No. 68) and veteran Deion Branch (No. 94).
Much of the Patriots' wide receiving core's fantasy value of course comes from quarterback Tom Brady, but even on their own, landing four pass catchers in the top 100 is a sign that the Patriots wide receivers are a group not to be under estimated come fantasy draft time.
