New England Patriots Release TE Bo Scaife

The New England Patriots released tight end Bo Scaife on Monday, as reported by Mark Reiss of ESPN Boston. Scaife was on the New England roster for exactly 11 days. In addition to Scaife, the team also released offensive tackle Mike Ingersoll.

Scaife, 31, was a long shot to make the final 53-man roster, and was probably there to get a cursory look in case injuries took a toll on the depth chart. Scaife did not play at all in 2011 after suffering a preseason shoulder injury with the Titans. His release may signal a quiet end to his playing days unless he can catch on with another team as a veteran backup.

Ingersoll is a reserve tackle who spent some time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was waived by Tampa Bay in May.
