The New England Patriots announced on Wednesday that they have signed their first-round draft choice Chandler Jones. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Jones (6-5, 265) was a three-year starter at defensive end for the Syracuse Orange. He made 147 tackles and 10 sacks during his career. He also forced five fumbles and recovered one fumble. The junior was named to the All-Big East team in 2011 despite playing in just seven games.
Jones was selected 21st overall by the Patriots. He is the fifth New England draft pick to sign. First-rounder Dont'a Hightower and third-rounder Jake Bequette are the only remaining draft picks who have not yet signed a contract. Hightower is a linebacker from Alabama. Bequette is a defensive end from Arkansas.
