Alfonzo Dennard Signing: Patriots Sign Seventh-Round Draft Choice

The New England Patriots have reportedly agreed to terms with seventh-round draft choice Alfonzo Dennard on a four-year contract.

Dennard (5-10, 205) is a first-team All-Big Ten cornerback out of Nebraska who was projected to go in the second or third round of the NFL Draft before his arrest in Lincoln, Nebraska during an incident at a bar. Dennard was accused of striking a police officer. He is currently facing a third-degree felony assault of a police officer charge and will be arraigned on May 30. Dennard could face up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine if convicted.

Dennard made 91 tackles (64 solo) four interceptions and 21 pass breakups while at Nebraska. He is the third member of the Patriots 2012 draft class to sign, after Tavon Wilson and Jeremy Ebert.
