Controversy or not, the New Orleans Saints should be considered a desirable destination for some NFL free agents. You can add a future NFL hall-of-famer and former New England Patriot to that list.
According to sources around the league, Randy Moss held a private workout for the Saints on Tuesday, and could soon join the team. The 35-year old wide receiver is on the comeback trail after sitting the entire 2011 season out.
If you are a Patriots fan, you know Randy Moss. Moss established himself as one of quarterback Tom Brady's favorite redzone targets, as he caught 259 passes for 3,904 yards and 50 touchdowns in his four years in New England. Another NFL news nugget, after the jump.
According to multiple sources close to the team, the Indianapolis Colts are set to release quarterback Peyton Manning on Wednesday. Wow, I mean just wow. The 35-year old Manning will become a free agent, and can sign with any team he pleases.
He he does sign with a Patriot opponent in 2012, it's going to be weird to see him in another uniform while facing rival Tom Brady. The two's rivalry dates back to 2004, with Brady leading the series, 6-5. A Patriots fan reaction: It's gonna be really weird seeing Peyton in another uniform. I have tremendous respect for this guy, and I hope he returns to form so he can help write another exciting chapter in the always exciting Brady-Manning rivalry.
