The New England Patriots announced the signing of cornerback Will Allen on Wednesday (via Patriots). Terms of the contract were not disclosed. However, Allen's contract is reportedly worth $975,000, with a $25,000 signing bonus and another $25,000 workout bonus (via Sun Sentinel).
Allen is a 10-year veteran who has played for the New York Giants (2001-2005) and Miami Dolphins (2006-2011). Allen was drafted in the first round in 2001 by the Giants out of Syracuse.
Allen has started 130 of his 140 career NFL regular season games and has also started in three postseason games. He has made 527 tackles (455 solo), 5 sacks, 15 interceptions and forced 7 fumbles (6 recoveries). Last season, Allen only made six starts but played in 15 games. He had 43 tackles and 3 passes defended.
