Super Bowl 2012: Madonna Does A Higher Rating Than The Super Bowl

It's amazing how popular Madonna is after all these years.

The superstar did an incredible job during the halftime show and was rewarded with a 48.3 rating. The actual Super Bowl between the New York Giants and New England Patriots drew a number of 47.8 according to John Ourand.

Even though two very large market teams were involved in the showdown, the rating wasn't an all-time best. Of course, the record was established just last year with Green Bay and Pittsburgh, ironically two of the smallest markets in the NFL.

Many people were complaining about the lack of a fresh face to perform the halftime mini-concert, but the league got it right again. Flanked by LMFAO, Cee-Lo, Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. Of course, M.I.A. gave the now infamous middle finger to the viewing audience which gave the performance a controversial feel.

For someone who is 53-years-old Madonna can still get a crowd rocking, even a young one.

As far as the game goes, this Super Bowl was a bigger hit than the previous match-up between these two. The 2008 version drew a 43.1 rating.
