Super Bowl 2012 Score: Giants Net Field Goal, Climb Within 17-12

For the first time since they took a 9-0 lead, the Giants have picked up some points on a 38-yard field goal from Lawrence Tynes.

After a nice kick return brought the Giants out to the 35-yard line, Eli Manning and his running backs picked up a series of short gains to push into New England territory. Hakeem Nicks picked up the first double-digit gain of the drive on an 11-yard pass, but found himself down on the sidelines on the next play when a devastating hit from Patrick Chung broke up what would have been a big gain.

Strong pressure on the next play forced Manning to get rid of the ball as he was taken down from behind, and a short pass to Mario Manningham would not provide enough for the first down. Facing fourth down, the Giants turned to their kicker, who just squeezed the ball around the left upright to get them back on the board, down five points at 17-12.
