Super Bowl XLVI Score Update: Giants Score First With Safety

The New England Patriots got down early to the Giants after taking a safety on their very first offensive play. After the Giants were stopped on their first drive down the field, punter Steve Weatherford was able to pin the Patriots deep back in their own zone. Tom Brady and the Patriots offense took over at the six-yard line. On the first play, Brady faked a hand off to BenJarvus Green-Ellis and then dropped back into the end zone looking for a receiver. He couldn't find one and just as Justin Tuck hit him, Brady threw a pass deep to nobody.

Brady was flagged for intentional grounding and since he was in the end zone, it was ruled a safety, giving New York a 2-0 lead and the ball.
