When the New England Patriots announced their inactives for Super Bowl XLVI, tight end Rob Gronkowski and wide receiver Chad Ochocinco were not listed. For Patriots fans, the first was a huge sigh of relief. The second, not so much.
Gronkowski suffered a high ankle sprain in the Patriots' win over the Ravens in the AFC Championship Game two weeks ago. Gronk's ankle had been the topic of conversation during Super Bowl week, as Gronk is arguably the team's top receiving option. Gronkowski had a tight end record 17 touchdown catches and 1,327 receiving yards on 90 catches.
Ochocinco, meanwhile, had done very little for the Patriots in the regular season, racking up only 15 catches for 276 yards and one touchdown. It appeared likely that Ochocinco would dress after wideout Tiquan Underwood was surprisingly released from the team on Saturday. Many believe that Ochocinco could fly under the radar and be key for the Pats.
