Patriots' WR Chad Ochocinco To Change Name Back To Chad Johnson

Chad Ochocinco, we hardly knew ye. Ochocinco, the attention grabbing wide receiver who was acquired by the New England Patriots prior to last season, will officially change his name back to Chad Johnson, his birth name, when he marries girlfriend Evelyn Lozada on July 4.

Ochocinco had a less-than-admirable first season with the Pats, collecting 276 receiving yards and one touchdown on 15 catches. Despite his lack of involvement in the Pats offensive scheme, Ochocinco was active for Super Bowl XLVI, in which New England faced the New York Giants. Ochocinco had one catch in the Super Bowl for 21 yards in a 21-17 loss.

Before coming to New England, Ochocinco was one of the best wideouts in the game. He consistently racked up 1,000-yard receiving seasons and had eight or more touchdown catches in five seasons, including one season with 10 scores. He hit his prime in the 2003 season (when he had 10 touchdown) and put together three straight dominant campaigns, collecting 28 touchdown catches and 4,061 receiving yards in 48 games.

Ochocinco is a free agent, but the veteran has expressed his desire to return to the Pats.
