The Denver Broncos found themselves in familiar dire straits against the New England Patriots in the second quarter. Down 14-0, and on defense, the Broncos got their first break of the night on an interception of Tom Brady.
The touchdown that followed Quinton Carter's pick and return was familiar, too: Denver kept things on the ground and allowed Willis McGahee to run into the end zone for six points.
McGahee, who has had a bit of a late-career renaissance for the Broncos in 2011 as the leading rusher in a run-heavy, option-dusted offensive attack, scored his fifth career postseason touchdown on the run. He has run for 57 yards on nine carries in the first half, and will likely threaten the century mark on the night.
