Alex Silvestro, an undrafted rookie free agent, has been brought back by the New England Patriots with the departure of A.J. Edds to the Indianapolis Colts and has been assigned to the team's practice squad on Wednesday.
Silvestro, 6-feet-3, 267 pounds, was signed by the Patriots as a rookie free agent out of Rutgers on July 27 before being released on Sept. 3. He was in the final round of cuts with defensive lineman Gerard Warren, who was also brought back this week. Silvestro began his career at Rutgers as a linebacker before moving to defensive end and defensive tackle. As a senior in 2010, he had 56 total tackles, 14.5 for a loss, and 4.5 sacks. (via WEEI)
