Chung Fined $7,500 For Unnecessary Roughness

New England Patriots safety Pat Chung was fined $7,500 today for his unnecessary roughness penalty against Miami Dolphins running back Reggie Bush.

During the opening drive of the game, Chung grabbed Reggie Bush's helmet from behind in order to bring him down on the play.  He was flagged for unnecessary roughness, but the penalty was offset by a holding penalty against Dolphins tight end Anthony Fasano.

The hit on Bush is not the first time Chung has been fined for an illegal hit against the Dolphins.  As a rookie in 2009, Chung was fined $7,500 for a roughing the passer penalty against quarterback Chad Henne.  Chung was also fined for a hit against Chad Ochocinco during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals last season.  Chung did not receive a penalty for that play, but upon review by the league office, it was ruled to be a late hit.
