Ryan Mallett took the reigns for the New England Patriots in the fourth quarter Saturday night against the Detroit Lions, but couldn’t find an offensive spark. The Patriots fell to the Lions 34-10.
Mallett threw for 65 yards, going 9 of 14 on the evening. He had a good series going at the very close of the game, carefully working the Patriots down field with a 12 play drive. Time ran out before Mallett could convert the drive into points.
The Lions’ Drew Stanton threw a four yard pass to Derrick Williams to close a 12 play drive at the start of the fourth quarter to give the Lions their closing points. Stanton finished the game with 93 passing yards.
