Patriots Vs. Lions: Quiet Third Quarter Keeps Lions Up 27-10

The New England Patriots had a sloppy third quarter – but for the first time tonight, so did the Detroit Lions. The third quarter saw no scoring, and the Lions remained up 27-10 at the end of the quarter.

Brian Hoyer stepped in in relief of Tom Brady in the third, throwing for just 15 yards. The Patriots offensive line is struggling, not allowing the offense the time to get plays off.

In contrast, the Lions offense is allowing quarterbacks Shaun Hill and Drew Stanton time to set up plays and move down the field.

The biggest news of the third quarter was that the Patriots’ announced two troubling injuries from the night. Wide receiver Wes Welker has left the game with a neck injury allegedly suffered on a second quarter closing Brady interception. Cornerback Jonathan Wilhite had his bell rung in the third quarter, and hasn’t come back to the game.
