Tom Brady and the New England Patriots face the Detroit Lions in their third preseason game at 8:00 p.m. EDT at Ford Field in Detroit, MI. Here's everything you need to know.
Event: NFL Preseason, Week 3 - New England Patriots vs. Detroit Lions.
Date/Time: Saturday, August 27, 2011 - 8:00 p.m. EDT.
Location: Ford Field (Capacity: 64,500), Detroit, Michigan.
Broadcast Info: Saturday night's game between the Patriots and Lions will be televised on CBS (Channel 4 in Boston). The game can also be heard on the radio in New England on 98.5 The Sports Hub, the flagship station of the Patriots.
Storyline: Entering the all-important third preseason games, the starters for both teams should see the most playing time of any point in the preseason. That means that Tom Brady, Wes Welker, BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Chad Ochocinco and the rest of the starters will get to showcase their talents for up to three quarters, or even more.
However, pregame reports - one specifically from Mike Reiss of ESPN Boston - has stated that new defensive stars Albert Haynesworth and Shaun Ellis are not expected to play against the Lions. Neither has made an appearance in either of the Patriots' two preseason games to date.
Matthew Stafford and Ndamukong Suh are the players to watch for the Lions. Stafford missed a chunk of last season after going down with an injury, but has looked polished in the preseason. Suh has emerged as one of the best defensive lineman in the sport, and will have the Pats' most prized possession - Tom Brady - in his sights.
