WEEI and 98.5 The Sports Hub could share a common bond if the New England Patriots reach the AFC Championship Game. WEEI extended its agreement with Westwood One, meaning that it will retain the broadcast rights to Sunday and Monday Night Football, the playoffs and the Super Bowl.
This means that, should the Pats reach the AFC title game and Super Bowl, both could be broadcast on both of Boston's biggest sports radio stations. WEEI would boast the broadcast team of Boomer Esiason and Kevin Harland while 98.5 has the legendary pair of Gil Santos and Gino Cappelletti. Talk about the ultimate ratings war.
Jason Wolfe says that it will be "a real thrill for Patriot fans to be able to hear Boomer Esiason on the call of the Super Bowl, should the team get there. He's the best analyst in the business." (via Boston Sports Media Watch)
