According to a report from the San Francisco Chronicle's Vittorio Tafur, Tom Brady's mentor, Tom Martinez, is doing quite well after being given a dire prognosis just a couple of weeks ago.
"I’m optimistic after being almost completely certain that I was going to die,"
Martinez recently completed his 33rd annual quarterback camp, and is now returning to Southern California to take part in more treatment.
According to the report, Martinez has been paired with a potential kidney donor, but it is yet to be determined if Martinez is strong enough for the surgery. Doctors have also adjusted his pacemaker, which appears to have helped improve his condition.
"Incredible, isn’t it?" Martinez said. "After my camp ends, I will go back down to UCLA for some internal tests, to see if I can handle surgery."
