Shane Vereen, a 5'10" running back from Cal, is the latest player to be drafted by the New England Patriots, who drafted him with the 24th pick in the second round (No. 56 overall) in the 2011 NFL Draft at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
Vereen racked up 2,834 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns in three seasons with the Golden Bears. Last season, Vereen amassed 1,167 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns on 231 carries for California.
In 12 games in 2010, Vereen rushed for more than 100 yards six times and scored at least one touchdown in seven games (he scored two or more touchdowns in a game five times last season).
