Everyone's favorite latte-sipping, Amtrak-riding NFL insider, Peter King, released his 2011 mock draft, just in time for next week's draft. King offers both who he thinks a team will pick, and who the team should pick
Yes, even though the lockout continues and both sides are locked in mediation, the NFL Draft is continuing as planned, with Round 1 on Thursday night (April 28), Rounds 2 and 3 on Friday night and then Rounds 4-7 on Saturday afternoon. The New England patriots, as you may have heard, have two first-round picks, and three of the top-33 selections.
In Peter King's mock draft, he has Cam Newton going No. 1 overall to the Carolina Panthers (both will and should). For the second pick, King says the Denver Broncos will and should pick DT Marcell Dareus, and then at the No. 3 pick, he has the Buffalo Bills picking LB Von Miller, but says they should draft OT Anthony Castonzo out of Boston College.
Buffalo's biggest needs are a left tackle and a run stopper, but those will be addressed in later rounds, because Miller's potential is so great. He has the chance to be a double-digit sacker, the guy '09 first-rounder Aaron Maybin hasn't become. But projecting pass rushers is always risky. For a team whose QB was hit way too much last year, I'd rather have a Day One left tackle. Castonzo started 54 games at BC and was never overmatched.
