We've heard countless cases where NFL players are suspended for dangerous hits or things they decide to say on Twitter. On Friday, we learned of a new thing the NFL will not tolerate.
On Friday, The NFL handed down a $10,000 fine to New England Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker for wearing a promotional baseball cap in his postgame press conference after the team defeated the Miami Dolphins last Sunday. It is unclear as to whether or not he will appeal the decision handed down by the league
The story behind Welker's fine is that his hat promoted the energy bar "Bonk Breaker", which was in fact not authorized by the league. Because Welker has worn the same hat in every press conference this season and is currently invested in the company, we was not happy about the decision handed down by the NFL.
"Got fined by the NFL for wearing a @Bonk_Breaker hat in an interview after the game. Thanks for warning me the other 16 weeks I wore the hat" (via Wes Welker's Twitter)
