Patriots Offensive Coordinator Bill O'Brien Could Land Head Coaching Job

Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien could land a head coaching job after the season, when his current contract expires.

According to Jason La Canfora of NFL.com, New England Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien is emerging as a hot head coaching candidate and could receive a handful of job offers this off-season. La Canfora writes:

In an offseason in which seven teams or more could be interviewing head-coaching candidates, and at a time when there are fewer "hot coordinators" than normal, O'Brien's stock is on the rise. Playoff success with the Patriots would only boost his profile.

O'Brien's contract is set to expire at the end of the season, making him free to interview wherever he pleases. La Canfora mentions the Cheifs as a possible destination given his familiarity with General Manager Scott Pioli and quarterback Matt Cassel – both of whom he worked with in New England.

O'Brien is also rumored to be on the list of head coaching candidates at Penn State University.
