Logan Mankins Injury Update: Sprained MCL Reportedly Leaves Lineman Out Against Buffalo Bills

New England Patriots offensive lineman Logan Mankins suffered a sprained MCL against the Miami Dolphins on Saturday and will miss New England's regular season finale against the Buffalo Bills, reports the Boston Herald's Ian Rapoport. Mankins hopes to make a return for the postseason.

Mankins' left knee was struck by a helmet early in Saturday's game, forcing him to the sidelines in the first quarter. He wanted to return to the game, but his knee stiffened up and coach Bill Belichick declined to insert the guard back into the lineup. If Mankins had not been wearing a small knee brace before the injury, suspects Rapoport, the injury could have been worse.

Sunday's meeting against the Bills will be the first game Mankins has ever missed due to injury. He is not expected to require surgery, but the Patriots could look to add offensive line depth in the meantime.
