After signing with the Patriots on Wednesday, Vincent Fuller's run with his new team didn't last long. According to a team press release, the Patriots decided to release the defensive back and promoted both Sterling Moore and Alex Silvestro from the Practice Squad.
Fuller was signed by the Patriots to help out a very depleted secondary. He has spent most of this season on injured reserve with the Detroit Lions before being released, which allowed him to sign and play immediately with another team. Fuller was limited in Wednesday and Thursday's practice.
The release of Fuller comes as a pleasant surprise to Sterling Moore, who will get a second shot with the Patriots. The team released Moore on December 10 before signing him back to their practice squad. The rookie safety from SMU has played five games with the Pats this season, recording six total tackles during that span.
Because the Patriots had an extra roster spot after placing DE Andre Carter on injured reserve, the team decided to give undrafted rookie defensive lineman Alex Silvestro a shot. Silvestro has been on the team's practice squad the entire season and could see his first NFL action on Saturday against the Miami Dolphins.
