The New England Patriots announced Wednesday that they have signed cornerback Nate Jones, an eight-year NFL veteran.
The 29-year old Jones has played in 101 games (10 starts) with the Dallas Cowboys, Miami Dolphins and Denver Broncos. He has registered 163 total tackles, three interceptions, 6.0 sacks and 59 special teams tackles during his career.
Jones, who played college football at Rutgers University, was drafted in the seventh round by Dallas in 2004. He spent four years in Dallas, then moved to Miami in free agency during 2008. In 2010, he signed with the Denver Broncos. After being released in August, he signed back with the Miami Dolphins, where he played two games before being cut on Oct. 5. He mustered one tackle in his two games with Miami.
The Patriots play the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.
