Phillip Adams Released By Patriots

The New England Patriots have released defensive back Phillip Adams, for the third time this season (via WEEI.com). Adams was originally signed on Sept. 21 before being released on Oct. 8. Adams was re-signed on Oct. 13 and released again on Oct. 14. This third stint was the longest. He was re-signed on Oct. 18 and released earlier today.

Adams played in six games (no starts) with the Patriots this season and recorded eight tackles (7 solo). Adams made a season-high three tackles against the Philadelphia Eagles on Nov. 27. He also intercepted a pass against the Kansas City Chiefs on Nov. 21.

Adams, who played his college football at South Carolina State, was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the seventh round of the 2010 NFL Draft. Adams played 15 games for San Francisco last year and made 13 tackles.
