Rob Gronkowski Fined $7,500 For Touchdown Spike In Jets Game

Rob Gronkowski said that his touchdown spikes would be getting bigger. Unfortunately for him, the fines will, too. Gronkowski was slapped with a $7,500 fine following his touchdown spike in the New England Patriots' 37-16 win over the New York Jets last Sunday at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Gronkowski caught a five-yard pass from Tom Brady in the end zone on 3rd-and-3. He was tackled by Donald Strickland and then immediately got up, showed off the football for several seconds before spiking it in the immediate vicinity of the Jets defensive back. Gronkowski was called for unsportsmanlike conduct and the Patriots were assessed a 15-yard penalty on the ensuing kickoff. (via WEEI)

Gronkowski has 52 catches for 709 yards and eight touchdowns in nine games this season for the Patriots. In his career, Gronkowski has 94 receptions accounting for 1,255 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns in 25 games.
