Patriots Practice Squad RB Eric Kettani Called Back To Navy

Patriots Practice Squad running back Eric Kettani was just getting back to what he really loved in life, playing football. 2011 marked Kettani's first NFL season as he served overseas in the United States Navy for two years. Late this week, Kettani found out that he is going to have to put football on hold once again as Uncle Sam came calling again.

On Friday, the New England Patriots announced that Kettani was to be summoned back to serve a second term in the United States navy. The team was forced to release the third year player out of Navy and replaced him with defensive back Josh Victorian

Kettani joined the Patriots right out of college in 2009 and was placed on the reserve/military list for his first two seasons. He was activated just prior to the 2011 season and was able to earn a spot on the team's practice squad.

While Kettani appealing the Navy's decision to call him into duty, he left Foxboro on Thursday and arrived at USS Klakring near Jacksonville, Florida on Friday. Just before leaving the team, Kettani tweeted this:

Just left Patriot Place for maybe the last time, took a pic for everyone...Go #Patriots! (via Twitter)
