Two weeks after releasing Dan Gronkowski, the New England Patriots came to terms to re-sign the tight end.
The 6'3, 255-pound Gronkowski played in New England's first two games before being released on Sept. 23, 2011. The terms of his new contract were unreleased.
A former seventh-round draft pick of the Detroit Lions after a college career at Maryland, Gronkowski has already played for three teams during his short NFL career. He appeared in 12 games last season for the Denver Broncos, catching eight passes for 65 yards. The previous year, Gronkowski played in two games while a member of the Lions, catching one pass for four yards.
With the signing of Dan Gronkowski, the Gronkowski family can once again claim to have three NFL players in the family. Dan will be reunited with brother Rob on the Patriots, and their brother Chris is a fullback for the Indianapolis Colts.
