The fifth week of the NFL season has come to a conclusion. There are some teams that have disappointed so far while others have exceeded all expectations. The divisions are finally starting to settle and it is quickly becoming apparent who are the contenders and who are the pretenders.

This past weekend saw the New England Patriots beat divisional rival New York Jets thanks largely to a third quarter that saw Tom Brady connect with Deion Branch and BenJarvus Green-Ellis rush for his second touchdown of the game. They held on to win in the fourth and handed the Jets their third straight loss of the season.

This was a big win for the Patriots who are tied for first place in the AFC East with the Buffalo Bills who defeated them in the third week of the season in a close game. The AFC East currently has the Bills and Patriots at the top both at 4-1, the New York Jets are 2-3 after this week's loss to the Patriots, and the Miami Dolphins are 0-4.
