A few seconds later, and the ball was in Brandon Spikes’ hands, just yards from the end zone. Those who believe in the jinx would have a harder time writing a more convincing scenario.
The pick comes at the end of by far the most promising drive of New York’s night. The Jets had carved up the field on the ground and in the air, breaking tackles and beating coverages.
And then the pick.
The clock keeps winding down, and even though the Patriots offense has slowed down, it’s hard to imagine that’ll stay the same the way they’ve looked so far.
