The New England Patriots, 4-1 overall and winners of three straight, continue their climb up the RealClearSports NFL Power Ranking Averages, earning the No. 3 spot in Week 7.

The Patriots have gone from No. 9 just four weeks ago to No. 3 (they were the sixth-best team last week).

The NFL's other one-loss teams, the Jets and Steelers, are No. 1 and No. 2, respectively.

The Patriots' best ranking came from SB Nation, which has New England at No. 2, while USA Today only has them at No. 4.

RCS also takes the time to average the rankings by conference, and it's there that the AFC South comes out on top, with the AFC East a close second.

The AFC South stays on top of the divisional rankings, but the AFC and NFC East divisions both moved up in the rankings. The NFC East is now the third highest ranked division, while just a few weeks ago it was in danger of dropping to seventh. The NFC West remains the worst division, but nearly caught up with the AFC West thanks to every NFC West team moving up in the rankings this week.
